DAILY DEVOTIONAL PRAYERS

52

Daily devotional prayers are a religious publication that gives Christians direction for their daily prayers in each calendar year. Most of this takes daily holy books targeted towards a group of people, including teenagers, men and women, and children. There are prominent known examples of such books as ‘Our daily bread.’ Lutheran Hour Ministries makes specific devotional materials, especially in some liturgical seasons such as the Advent and Lent seasons. Daily devotions have a long tradition in the Christian setup, and they are often associated with specific prayer time and meditation. In the early days, devotional prayers came as a book where a paragraph was read daily accompanied by reflection time and a prayer related to the scripture. In recent times, especially in the Advent and lent seasons, devotional prayers come in many forms, such as blogs, apps, websites, and emails.

The importance of daily devotional prayers.

Prayer is the best way to communicate with God. It is through prayer that we have our requests answered. Prayer is essential that it is mentioned over 250 times in the Bible. Prayer is, therefore, necessary as it has the following benefits:

1) Prayer enables us to share all life aspects with God – Life changes in seconds, and circumstances change concisely and can go anywhere from good to harmful or even to worse. God has then called us to bring all our situations to him. Whether they are burdens, he says cast them all unto me. In the case of happiness, we communicate with God through thanksgiving prayers for giving us the great moments to rejoice and be happy as he has commanded us to.

Jeremiah 33.3 states, “Call to me, and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know. “Christ calls us to call unto him through prayers so that he can answer us. In James 4:8, “Draw near God that he can draw near you.” The one way we draw closer to God is through prayers.

2) Prayer gives us a chance to express gratitude for God’s things in our life – We are commanded to give thanks to God for his love and grace endures forever, according to 1 Chronicle 16:34. In psalms 9:1, “I will praise you O Lord with all my heart, I will tell of your wonders.” Prayer thus gives us that chance to be grateful for everything that God has done for us, for answered prayers, for healing, the gift of life and food, and generally everything and anything that we as Christians have gratitude for.

3) Prayer gives us a chance to confess our sins and ask for help to overcome evil. In prayer, we ask God for the forgiveness of sins that we have committed knowingly or without knowing. We express our sorrow for our sin, and Christ is ready to forgive us as he states that all who shall repent and turn to his ways shall be forgiven. We are all sinners in one way or another through actions that are not even known to us, but Christ encourages us to confess our sins through prayer.

4) Prayer is an act of obedience and worship to God. We worship God in many ways, including songs, praise, actions, and even preaching, but prayer is also a form of prayer to God. When we make time and say a prayer to Christ, it symbolizes our ways of worship and obedience to our creator. This is very important to take up the devotional prayers as they play a big part in our relationship with God.

5) Prayer is a way to acknowledge who is in control of our lives – After all, it is said and done as Christians; we all believe that God is our creator for heaven and earth and everything in it. We, therefore, through prayer, acknowledge this. In Nehemiah 1:11, “O Lord, I pray you, may Your ear be attentive to the prayer of your servant and the prayers of your servants who delight to revere your name and make your servant successful today and grant him compassion before man. “

CONCLUSION

Prayer can take various forms and can be part of the liturgy, ritual, performed alone, or even in groups. Prayer is essential and helps us grow spiritually, and it is the fuel that keeps us going in our spiritual journey. It is through prayer that we make our requests known, that we give thanksgiving, and we give honor to God.
